Grilled Caramel Apples

Ingredients

3 Tbsp. butter
3 large apples, such as Honeycrisp or Gala
¼ C. packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp. Mansmith’s Cinnamon Stuff
soft caramel candies cut into thin slices

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Butter a 2 quart baking dish.  Cut the apples in half, cut out the core.  Cut slits into each apple half about ¼ inch apart, do not cut through to the bottom.  Place flat side down in the baking dish.  Mix the butter, brown sugar and Cinnamon Stuff with a fork; spread mixture over the tops of apples.  Cover with foil and bake about 15 minutes, until just tender.  Save any juices left into a measuring cup.

Uncover the apples and carefully insert slices of caramel candy into the apple.  Be careful, the apples will be hot!  Remove the apples to a hot grill for the final delicious step.  Grill the apples, flat side down, for an additional 5-10 minutes being careful not to burn.  Remove when you have nice caramelization and grill marks.  Drizzle the juices from baking over the apples.  Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

In a hurry?  Instead of making meatballs, make “meat cubes”.  Spread meat mixture in a jelly roll pan and bake, then just cut meat into squares.
